Heather Sheridan and Julie Gurevich met back in 2003, over more than a decade they have worked together and evolved as individual teachers. In spring of 2012 Hot Yoga Chicks Teacher Training was launched. Julie and Heather collaborated together to create fun, effective and challenging training program. Best known as a “teachers” teacher training. If you truly inspiring to become a yoga teacher, Julie and Heather will give you what you need to enter into the world of yoga teaching.
Julie Gurevich began her journey into yoga after years of competitive distance running had left her injury prone. Seeking a source of cross training she stumbled upon Bikram’s Beginner’s Hot Yoga class; a 26 posture, 90 minute class practiced in a 105 degree heated room. Julie was hooked. She graduated from Bikram’s teacher training in LA in June 2002 and went on to open her own studio, Yoga Zone in Millburn, NJ.After practicing the Bikram series for several years, Julie began to yearn for more. This desire for something greater pushed her to explore several other styles of yoga which is how she found her true place in the yoga world: Vinyasa! “It just opened me up, physically and spiritually in a way I had never thought possible!” With this new found passion and some life changes, Julie closed Yoga Zone in the fall of 2005 and went to train with Baron Baptiste in 2006. She has also learned from Rolf Gates and Vinnie Marino over the years.
Teaching Vinyasa allows Julie to utilize her enthusiasm and creativity to craft challenging and fun classes. Most importantly, Julie brings smiles to her students’ faces. Julie is certified to teach pre-natal yoga and is a Holistic Nutritionist Counselor through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. Julie continues to run marathons and train.
Heather Sheridan’s journey into yoga began in 1998 in NYC when she was introduced to Bikram Yoga. After receiving her degree in acting at the University of MA. She got accepted to the MFA program at The Actors Studio in NYC. Feeling the pressure of school and suffering a personal loss she needed something to help deal with her grief and ground her. A great friend took her to a Bikram class. It changed her life. After practicing religiously for 4 years, she continued her journey by moving to Los Angeles, California to train with the master himself, Bikram.In 2002, Heather became a certified Bikram Yoga teacher. After teaching Bikram for several years and exploring other styles of yoga Heather took her yoga teaching skills to a new level and trained with Baron Baptist in 2008. Since her training in 2008 Heather has continued her education studying with Rolf Gates, Vinnie Marino, Russell Ditchfield, Rhonda Roehrich and many others. In 2012 she shifted her focus to not only teaching classes but to training teachers.
In 2012 Heather was approached by Julie Gurevich to start a teacher training program for Powerflow Yoga. Now known as the Hot Yoga Chicks. They have run several successful 200hr Yoga Training Program. In 2016 Hot Yoga Chicks joined forces with POE studios to run their Teacher Training Program. With more than 20,000 hours of teaching, training and learning she is prepared to teach the very beginner to the most advanced. With attention to proper alignment and safe sequencing you will be challenged is her classes. Heather desires for her class to be more than just a class but an experience. Be prepared to work hard, sweat, and most of all have fun!
